THE TERRITORIES AMENITIES

THE OUTFITTERS CENTER - Created by the internationally acclaimed firm of Moss Creek Design and located on preserve designated property, the center is the debarkation point for sporting clays, hunting, fishing, boating, horseback riding, nature walks and viewings from our 100-foot restored National Forest Service observation tower. The center is fully staffed with a sporting proshop and features an on-site heliport.

THE NATURE CENTER - Located on the preserve, this facility provides information and educational programs on a wide variety of environmental and wildlife topics including river aquatics, Tupelo bottom ecology and the rarity of the Piedmont Palm forest. Exhibits provide information on identifying reptiles and amphibians as well as the tracks and signs of deer, turkey, boar and bobcat. Visitors to the Nature Center can also choose to simply relax beside the fireplace while gazing out over the wildlife viewing area.

PRIMITIVE CAMPING AREA - Includes ingress and egress points for ½-day and ¾-day canoe or kayak trips.

THE RIVERHOUSE - Forty-plus serene acres featuring The Riverhouse that overlooks Striper Shoals, a fully stocked panfish pond that provides the perfect environment for family fishing excursions.

THE OLD SWIMMIN’ HOLE - a heated, pebbletec lined swimming pool, is a cool and refreshing diversion after a long nature hike or horseback riding.

THE TRAILS END LIBRARY - With an expansive view of the upper pond, The Trails End Library is a pastoral location in which to retreat for reading, meditation and observing the wood ducks settle in to their nesting boxes.

THE LODGE - Another creation of Moss Creek Design, The Lodge is the epitome of rustic elegance in design. With seven well-appointed rooms for accommodating guests, The Lodge also features a central dining and entertainment area, several open-hearth stone fireplaces and a fitness center, just in case you still have some energy left over from outdoor activities. A fullyequipped small business center within The Lodge includes a meeting room, internet access and other business services for convenient business communications.

The Cabins, which are interspersed along a gentle ridge, provide more intimate and private accommodations and include two bedrooms. Each Territories owner is provided accommodations, by prior reservation, in the form of one Lodge Room or Cabin for twenty-eight nights within a calendar year. A housekeeping fee per stay is the only cost to the owner.

THE CLUB - In addition to access to club activities within the Territories, each Territories owner is also an Equity Member in the Grand Harbor Golf and Yacht Club. This gives owners and their families access to the complete amenity package at Grand Harbor including The Patriot, a Davis Love III Championship Course, dining, fitness, tennis, swimming, marina and the Equestrian Center located at The Plantation. Your monthly dues include access to these amenities.

THE STEWARDSHIP - The Territories Preserve is professionally managed to insure that wildlife habitats and food plots are utilized to their fullest potential while also respecting the sensitive needs of the environment. Timber will periodically be managed with the goal of increasing wildlife habitat. The proceeds from the management will be deposited into the Community Association’s operating account to offset operating expenses or to fund capital improvements.

HUNTING - Wildlife and habitat management at The Territories is the core to our overall environmental plan. Providing a diverse and rich habitat will insure that wildlife at The Territories will thrive for generations to come.

DEER - Deer hunting at The Territories is an adventure in itself. With over 1,100 acres of available hunting land, there is abundant room in which to roam in search of these wild and magnificent creatures. Hunters can choose to hunt on several hundred acres of varied habitats from professionally managed food plots rich with corn and lablab to undisturbed hardwood bottoms. The Territories currently supports a healthy population of Whitetail Deer as proven by the numerous motion-activated scouting cameras placed throughout the property. As a participant in South Carolina’s Deer Management Program, harvest amounts will be set early each Fall. Mature bucks (2 1/2 years and older) with at least four points on each side will be the norm. An antlerless quota will be established to allow owners to harvest Whitetails for processing. By following the Quality Deer Management Association’s guidelines, this will insure that the trophy management of our herd will flourish for years to come. Hunting season dates and legal weapons will follow state guidelines.

TURKEY - An abundant turkey population provides the opportunity to go afield and pursue North America’s most majestic bird. In the Spring, particularly in the month of April, the gobble of adult Toms echoes throughout the woods. With Dogwood trees and flowering azaleas in bloom, tracking a turkey through the woods is a visual treat in addition to a thrilling hunt. Enhancing the habitat for wild turkeys with numerous chufa and clover plots insures the gobble of a strutting turkey will be heard in generations to come. Harvest limits will be set each Spring based on population counts and the health of the previous Spring’s hatch. Hunting seasons and weapons will follow state guidelines.

WILD HOG - Hunting for wild hog is a rarity in the Piedmont, but a strong population of both feral and true strain Russian boar is available at The Territories year round. Due to little hunting activity over the past several years, the population has grown tremendously, and we strongly encourage property owners to take full advantage of the opportunity to hunt this abundant game species. The goal at the Territories is to maintain a sustainable but relatively low population of wild hogs. Hog hunting is allowed year round, and a successful hunt provides both exciting sport and excellent grill fare. Hunting will be either spot and stalk, stands or ground blinds. Wild hog hunting with dogs is not permitted. Legal weapons will follow state guidelines.

WING SHOOTING - Thanksgiving weekend signals the start of the season for native quail at The Territories. Few ever forget the beautiful dog work, perfect point and exploding coveys that stir the hunter’s soul. Relax aboard one of our specially equipped hunting vehicles as your guide and a brace of fine dogs hunt the elusive Bobwhite Quail.

GAME LIMITS - The Board will establish, and revise from season to season, hunting and fishing game limits or special rules and regulations as necessary to conserve the quality and habitat of wildlife. At no time will the game limits established by the Board exceed the limits and laws as set by the state of South Carolina.

GUEST POLICY - Each property owner and his or her immediate family including children (up to 23 years of age) will have deeded access to 1,100 +/- acres of land specifically managed for wildlife and the enjoyment of the outdoors. Guests accompanied by a property owner shall be permitted to use the sporting clays, rifle range, archery range and other non-consumptive activities. Guests accompanying property owners may attend The Territories events and seminars and travel designated roads and trails including the upper Saluda River. In addition, guests of property owners will be allowed to hunt with the restriction that the total harvest of guests may not exceed the equivalent of the owner’s bag limit as established prior to the start of each individual season as set by the Board.
